Animal Crossing: New Leaf Getting Amiibo Support This Fall

July 20, 2016

After four years of Animal Crossing: New Leaf launched on the 3DS, it is finally getting a big update and new content. Nintendo Japan has announced that Animal Crossing: New Leaf will get amiibo support starting this Autumn!

Scanning amiibo cards will prompt their specific villagers to come to your village. Also, the Animal Crossing amiibo figures will be compatible with the game.

In addition, amiibo from other game series, such as Splatoon, will eventually make their way to New Leaf. Players will be able to dress like the Squid Sisters by tapping each character’s amiibo figure.

Players who own a New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL can use the scan their amiibo on the bottom screen. Those who own a Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, or Nintendo 2DS must use the NFC Reader/Writer accessory for amiibo functionality.

Stay tuned for more updates!
